Tigers take bite at of Bulldogs inside the Kerr Center

Nov. 21—The East Central University men’s basketball team dominated their home opener on Tuesday night, defeating non-conference opponent Jarvis Christian University 85-48 inside of an electric Kerr Activities Center.

East Central evened its record to 2-2 on the year, while the Bulldogs sank to 1-5.

The game remained competitive early, tied at 11-11 with 13:10 left in the half, until ECU went on a 17-5 run over the following seven and a half minutes, taking a lead of 30-16 with 5:43 remaining.

The Tigers would end the half scoring 10 more points while holding the Bulldogs to only six to lead comfortably at halftime, 40-22.

The Tigers continued to roll on both ends of the floor in the second half, highlighted by a 24-4 run. The Tigers grabbed their biggest the lead of the game at 39 points with just under three minutes remaining.

ECU showcased a balanced offense, shooting 46.8% from the field including 38 points in the paint, complemented by a 31.3% clip from the perimeter. The Tigers excelled from the free throw line, making 17-of-23 attempts (73.9%).

On the boards, the Tigers overpowered the Bulldogs with a 48-33 rebounding edge. The Tigers also demonstrated exceptional ball movement, with four players dishing out at least three assists, accumulating 17 total assists on the night.

The game saw four Tigers score in double figures, with Bryce Woolridge leading the charge with a career-high 25-point performance, shooting 8 of 13 from the field, including seven 3-pointers, while also grabbing eight rebounds. Bishop Jones recorded his first career double-double, scoring 17 points to go with a career-high 12 rebounds. Nikk Williams contributed 13 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, while Mason Jones added 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

The Tigers will look to carry their momentum into a Friday road trip to face Oklahoma Christian. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Edmond.
