ACC men’s basketball power rankings: Duke, North Carolina stay on top as Pitt rises

The 2024-25 college basketball season is a few weeks old already, but as is the case every season, the action heats up around Thanksgiving with a slew of multi-team events like the Maui Invitational and the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Where do things stand in the ACC heading into those?

Here are how the conference’s 18 teams stack up with several high-profile tournaments on deck this week:

These rankings take into account games through Friday, Nov. 22

1. Duke

Behind 24 points from Cooper Flagg, the Blue Devils were able to go on the road to smoke Arizona 69-55 and exorcise their Caleb Love demons.

2. North Carolina

The Tar Heels got their trip out to the Aloha State started right, knocking off Hawaii by 18 in their pre-Maui Invitational appetizer.

3. Pitt

Fayetteville native Jeff Capel has one of the conference’s best players in sophomore guard Jaland Lowe, who may have the Panthers ranked by Monday.

4. Wake Forest

A double-digit loss at Xavier may not look so bad by the end of the season, depending on how the Musketeers fare.

5. Louisville

Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals have taken care of business since a loss to Tennessee. Now, a trip to Atlantis awaits.

6. Clemson

Boise State is one of the best teams from outside the power conferences, but the Tigers losing at the Broncos by 13 while shooting 36.8% isn’t encouraging.

7. NC State

The Wolfpack hasn’t played anyone ranked inside the top 200 on KenPom, but it has handled business, winning its five games by an average of 19.6 points.

8. Stanford

The Cardinal is one of three undefeated teams remaining in the league, with 7-foot center Maxime Raynaud averaging 21 points and 12.2 rebounds per game.
