Florida A&M men’s basketball rode the hot hand to its first victory, a 110-68 win over Trinity Baptist on Friday at the Al Lawson Center.

Forward Shaqir O’Neal had a game-high and career-high 26 points and nine rebounds for the Rattlers. The transfer shot nine of 16 and drained four of eight three-point attempts.

O’Neal also had four blocks and had a posterizing slam dunk that sent the Al Lawson Center’s crowd into a frenzy.

O’Neal was one of four Rattlers who scored in double figures. Milton Matthews (21 points), Sterling Young (17 points), Jocobi Hendricks (13 points), and Jordan Chatman (11 points) all added significant contributions.

Friday’s victory marks the Rattlers’ first under coach Patrick Crarey II.

FAMU men’s basketball (1-4) returns to action at Clemson on Friday, Nov. 29.
