Jackson State basketball forward Dylan Canoville was trailing a play during Friday night’s game at Kentucky and resorted to a last-ditch effort to try and make a defensive stop.
Canoville’s shoe had fallen off on the other end of the floor when he jumped for a layup. Kentucky quickly countered down the floor, while Canoville got stuck behind to pick up his shoe.
As he jogged back to defense, Canoville threw the shoe at Kentucky’s Brandon Garrison when he gathered a bounce pass at the arc and drove down the middle for an uncontested layup.
The shoe appeared to miss Garrison and land in the crowd behind the basket.
Canoville was not assessed a technical foul for throwing the shoe. Kentucky (5-0) routed Jackson State (0-6) 108-59. Canoville played 15 minutes off the bench and scored seven points with six rebounds and two steals.
Canoville transferred to Jackson State from Southeastern Louisiana this season. He averages 4.8 points per game.
