Nov. 23—JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown men’s basketball continued thier stretch of games against Northern Sun teams with a 79-64 win over Northern State University on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Harold Newman Arena.
The win is head coach Casey Bruggeman’s first at Newman Arena. The win also sees the Jimmies end a 14 game losing streak against the Wolves and is the Jimmies first win against them since Feb. 20, 1948. The win is also the Jimmies first ever at home against the Wolves.
Both teams started this game slowly as with 13:38 to go in the first half, the Wolves were winning 9-8 with the Jimmies shooting 3-for-10 from the field and the Wolves shooting 3-for-7 from the field. The Jimmies picked it up from there though finishing the half shooting 38.7% from the field and 28.6% from three. The Wolves headed into the half shooting 40% from the field and 12.5% from three as the Jimmies took a 35-25 lead into the break.
The Jimmies’ biggest advantage in the first half came in turning defensive into offense as they scored 17 points off nine Wolves turnovers. Whereas the visitors scored two points off five Jimmies turnovers. The Jimmies also outscored the Wolves 10-2 in terms of second-chance points.
