On Thursday night, Chris Paul achieved a significant milestone by notching the 2,685th steal of his career, which allowed him to surpass Jason Kidd and secure the second spot on the NBA’s all-time steals list.
With 5:24 left in the quarter, Paul made a key play by stealing the ball from Devin Booker, marking his first steal of the game and propelling him higher on the rankings.
This is the second instance this season where Paul has eclipsed Kidd on an NBA all-time leaderboard. On December 8, he recorded his 12,092nd career assist, moving ahead of Kidd in the all-time assists category.
John Stockton holds the record for most steals with 3,265, a benchmark that may remain unchallenged.

In his 20th season, Paul has led the league in steals six times (2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14) and has earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team nine times, with seven of those being First-Team selections.
He is among 17 players in NBA history to average at least two steals per game over their entire careers, and one of just six to achieve this while participating in more than 1,000 games.
The others in this elite group include Stockton, Michael Jordan, Maurice Cheeks, Clyde Drexler, and Scottie Pippen — all of whom are enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
