Daniel Theis Joins Oklahoma City Thunder as Team Bolsters Roster with German Connection

As reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, Daniel Theis has been traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The German forward/center is currently in the final year of his contract, which is worth $2.1 million.

In the ongoing 2024-25 season, Theis has been contributing an average of 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in 16.3 minutes of play across 38 appearances. In addition to Theis, the Thunder will also receive draft picks as part of the deal.

In Oklahoma City, Theis will reunite with fellow German Isaiah Hartenstein. The two previously teamed up while representing their country at the 2017 EuroBasket tournament.

This marks Theis’ eighth year in the NBA. Throughout his career, he has also been with the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, and Indiana Pacers.
