Domantas Sabonis Welcomes Jonas Valanciunas to the Kings, Boosting Hopes for a Strong Bench Presence

Following his collaboration with Zach LaVine on Wednesday, Domantas Sabonis expressed his enthusiasm about potentially joining forces with fellow Lithuanian Jonas Valanciunas on the Sacramento Kings.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” the 28-year-old Sabonis remarked. “Having someone from my own country is special. He embodies this culture—he’s a fighter who shows up for every game. His contributions off the bench will be invaluable, and he plays with a lot of heart.”

Unfortunately for the Kings, the Orlando Magic thwarted LaVine’s debut, claiming a 130-111 victory at Golden 1 Center. Franz Wagner from Germany led the visitors with an impressive 31 points on a perfect 12-of-12 shooting performance, including five from beyond the arc, along with contributing five rebounds and three assists.

With his brother Moritz Wagner sidelined for the entirety of the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season due to left knee surgery, the European representation was supported by Georgian Goga Bitadze and German Tristan da Silva, who scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.

On the flip side, Sabonis recorded a strong performance with a double-double, accumulating 21 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists. Ukrainian teammate Alex Len, however, did not score during his two minutes on the court.

In Target Center, the Minnesota Timberwolves triumphed over the Chicago Bulls with a score of 127-108. Anthony Edwards had an outstanding night, scoring 49 points, while French player Rudy Gobert contributed a solid double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds, along with three blocks, three steals, and one assist. Bosnian Luka Garza added four points to the mix.

For the Bulls, Lithuanian Matas Buzelis and Montenegrin Nikola Vucevic registered 14 points and a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, respectively.
