Doncic Set for Full Comeback as Lakers Gear Up for Crucial Post-All-Star Stretch

After making his debut with restricted playing time for the Los Angeles Lakers, Luka Doncic has been given the green light to compete without limitations following the NBA All-Star break.

“He’ll be good to go,” stated head coach JJ Redick during a press conference on Tuesday. “His minutes will increase starting tomorrow, and I don’t anticipate any restrictions moving forward.”

Kicking off the 2024-25 Regular Season, the historic Los Angeles franchise is set to play against the Charlotte Hornets at crypto.com Arena this Wednesday, followed by a matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center on Thursday.

Doncic, 25, sustained a left calf strain on Christmas Day in the NBA, which led to his immediate removal from play by the Dallas Mavericks. He was subsequently traded to the Lakers on February 2. In his initial two games with his new team before the break, he averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 0.5 steals while playing only 23.5 minutes per game.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have listed LeBron James as a questionable participant due to soreness in his left foot, following his absence from the 2025 All-Star Game. Additionally, Maxi Kleber, who is currently recovering from recent surgery on his right foot, remains out.

With a record of 32-20, the Lakers sit fifth in the Western Conference standings, trailing the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder by 11 games and comfortably within the top six positions that guarantee entry to the 2025 Playoffs.
