Bogdan Bogdanović has yet to make his first appearance for the Los Angeles Clippers, but a new addition to the team is on the horizon.
According to Shams Charania, former No. 1 overall NBA draft selection Ben Simmons plans to join the Clippers after clearing waivers subsequent to his exit from the Brooklyn Nets.
The ex-Philadelphia 76ers player recently finalized a contract buyout with the Nets and is expected to sign with the Clippers, a franchise that has successfully navigated the buyout market in the past with acquisitions such as Russell Westbrook, Nicolas Batum, and Reggie Jackson.
The 28-year-old Simmons spent three seasons in Brooklyn after being traded in a deal that sent James Harden to the 76ers, but injuries limited him to just 90 games with the Nets. He is now set to reunite with Harden in Los Angeles.
This season, Simmons has been averaging 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists over 25 minutes per game. He is poised to enter free agency this summer.
As reported by ESPN’s Charania, Simmons also had discussions with the Cleveland Cavaliers in addition to his meeting with the Clippers this Friday.
