Franz Wagner is making his mark in Orlando’s basketball narrative. In the recent 121-113 victory at home against the Detroit Pistons, the talented German guard racked up an impressive 32 points, 25 of which were scored during the pivotal fourth quarter.
By matching Tracy McGrady’s record for the most points in a single quarter as a member of the Orlando Magic, the No. 22 player shot 10-of-22 from the floor and was flawless at the free-throw line, going 8-for-8.
“It’s always T-Mac. It’s always him. Obviously, it’s really cool,” Wagner said in response to being informed about his tie with a franchise great like McGrady.
“25 points in the fourth quarter is truly remarkable,” the Orlando Magic tweeted, showcasing his performance.
Later, he reflected, “It’s especially meaningful for me. After a challenging beginning, I maintained my confidence and continued to play my game. There have been times in the past when I struggled to do that,” Wagner noted.
With Goga Bitadze and Moritz Wagner sidelined, Franz was supported by Paolo Banchero, who contributed 32 points, along with 9 rebounds and 7 assists, while Tristan Da Silva added 5 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.
As the 2024-25 Regular Season unfolds, the Orlando Magic find themselves in the Play-In race, currently sitting 7th in the Eastern Conference. Franz Wagner is averaging 24.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game this season.
