From Wizards to Lakers: Alex Lens Shift to Los Angeles after Unexpected Turn of Events

A few days ago, Shams Charania reported that Ukrainian center Alex Len was anticipated to be released by the Washington Wizards, with plans to join the Indiana Pacers.

However, there has been a turn of events, as Len is now poised to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent.

“Free agent 7-footer Alex Len is set to join the Los Angeles Lakers. Although he initially meant to sign with the Pacers, Len opted for LA after the Lakers cancelled the Mark Williams trade, thereby creating a new opportunity,” Charania stated.

In order to accommodate the signing of the 31-year-old Ukrainian, Christian Wood is expected to be released by the Lakers.

Len became a member of the Wizards through a multi-team trade during the deadline on February 6, but now he is ready to strengthen the Lakers’ frontcourt following the unsuccessful deal for Mark Williams.

Currently in his 12th season in the NBA, Len was selected fifth overall in the 2013 draft by the Phoenix Suns. After five years, he transitioned to the Atlanta Hawks, and has since played for the Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors, and Washington Wizards before returning to the Kings in 2021.

Throughout his career, he has participated in 680 regular-season games, averaging 6.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
