Making significant waves alongside impressive performances with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season, Guerschon Yabusele has emerged as a potential trade candidate.
Several franchises, including the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Denver Nuggets, are reportedly interested in acquiring the 29-year-old French forward/center, as noted by HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto on Thursday.
The trade deadline on February 6 is crucial, serving as the last opportunity for NBA teams to finalize trades that would keep the players eligible for the 2025 playoffs. While the Sixers are fighting for a position in the Eastern Conference Play-In and are viewed as unlikely to have a deep playoff run, the Celtics, Knicks, and Nuggets are regarded as serious championship contenders.
After two years with the Celtics from 2017 to 2019, Yabusele has returned to the NBA, currently averaging 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 0.8 steals per game in 44 appearances, 22 of which were as a starter under coach Nick Nurse, primarily stepping in for Joel Embiid at center. With a record of 19-27, the 76ers are currently tied with the Chicago Bulls at the lower end of the Eastern Conference Play-In standings.
Following his time with the Celtics, Yabusele found success in Europe, clinching the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title with Real Madrid and achieving additional victories in various domestic competitions with both Los Blancos and LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. He has also been recognized as a key player for France’s senior national team, helping secure silver medals in recent Olympic Games and EuroBasket tournaments.
