Croatian forward Bojan Bogdanovic is set to have surgery that will end his season, as reported on Wednesday by ESPN senior NBA reporter Shams Charania.
Last April, during a brief period with the New York Knicks, the 35-year-old Bogdanovic underwent season-ending procedures on his left foot and left wrist. After being traded to the Brooklyn Nets in July, he was placed on the injury list, specifically for recovery from a left foot injury, missing all games of the 2024-25 Regular Season. This most recent update confirmed that he would not participate in any further games for the team led by Spanish coach Jordi Fernandez.
A seasoned player with 770 NBA appearances to his name, Bogdanovic was originally selected by the Miami Heat with the 31st pick in the 2011 draft. He joined the Nets in 2014, and his first tenure with the franchise lasted until he was traded to the Washington Wizards during the 2016-17 season. Prior to the 2017-18 season, he signed with the Indiana Pacers, and after becoming a free agent in 2019, he moved to the Utah Jazz. In 2022, he was traded to the Detroit Pistons, and he was involved in yet another trade midway through the 2023-24 season, which brought him to the Knicks for his most recent appearance.
Earlier in his career, Bogdanovic gained experience in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, playing 87 games for Fenerbahce Ulker, Cibona, and Real Madrid.
He has represented Croatia at various levels since 2010, starting with junior teams and making his senior debut at the 2010 FIBA World Championship. His international career includes participation in the 2016 Olympic Games, the 2014 FIBA World Cup, and five EuroBasket tournaments.
