The Greek Freak and the Joker kicked off 2025 on a high note by being awarded Player of the Month for January.
According to a press release, Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks have been named the Kia NBA Players of the Month for their performances during January.
In the month’s 14 games, Jokić posted impressive averages of 27.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, 11.4 assists, and 1.9 steals. The three-time Kia MVP guided the Nuggets to a 10-4 record during his appearances, placing them fourth in the Western Conference rankings.
During this period, Jokić notched eight triple-doubles, tying him for the fifth most in a single month in NBA history. He led the Western Conference in assists per game, ranked second in double-doubles, and was fourth in both rebounds and points per game, as well as seventh in steals. This recognition marks the eighth time he has received the Player of the Month award, the most in the franchise’s history.
Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo recorded an average of 30.5 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, showcasing a shooting percentage of 60% from the field. His efforts contributed to the Bucks achieving the fifth-highest scoring January in the team’s history, averaging 118.5 points per game.
The two-time Kia MVP also achieved a league-leading 15 double-doubles in January, extending his impressive streak to 19 consecutive double-doubles for the season, the longest active streak in the league and the second-longest of his career. This marks Antetokounmpo’s first Player of the Month accolade of the season and the 11th of his career.
