Before being unexpectedly ruled out of the game on Wednesday between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Charlotte Hornets, Giannis Antetokounmpo discussed the potential trade of his long-time teammate Khris Middleton.
“I’ve shared the court with Khris for 12 years and experienced some amazing moments with him. Ultimately, with these situations, as we’ve been informed, the outcome isn’t guaranteed until it’s official; so, as of now, Khris remains part of the team. However, should the trade go through, I will certainly miss Khris,” he stated during the morning practice in Charlotte.
“It transcends mere business; it’s like family,” he said, reflecting on the dynamics of player trades within the league. “With someone I’ve won a championship alongside—not just victories, but we’ve faced a lot of defeats together as well. I’ve gone through some tough times with him, and we’ve shared the pressure of important moments on the bus together. It feels like we’ve gone to battle together.”
In the proposed trade that would send Middleton to the Washington Wizards and Kyle Kuzma to the Bucks, the New York Knicks are also involved, sending Jericho Sims to the Bucks in exchange for Delon Wright and financial considerations, as reported by ESPN insider Shams Charania.
Additionally, the Knicks will trade the draft rights of Mathias Lessort, who is currently sidelined with an injury as a member of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champions Panathinaikos Aktor, to the Bucks in return for the rights to fellow French player Hugo Besson, who is currently playing for the Basketball Champions League team Manisa, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.
