After weeks filled with speculation and a halt in negotiations between the Miami Heat and the Golden State Warriors, it has been confirmed that Jimmy Butler will indeed be moving to San Francisco.
The 35-year-old star opted out of his player option for the 2025-26 season to secure a two-year, $121 million contract extension, ensuring his commitment to the Warriors until the conclusion of the 2026-27 season, as reported by ESPN’s prominent NBA insider, Shams Charania, on Wednesday.
“I’m thrilled he got what he was aiming for,” commented Serbian Nikola Jovic regarding his former teammate’s successful contract after a strong performance against the Philadelphia 76ers. “That contract is quite substantial, and I’m truly happy for him.”
In a complex four-team trade featuring the seasoned combo forward, German player Dennis Schroder is on his way to the Utah Jazz. Following a recent trade away from the Brooklyn Nets, the 31-year-old has now been involved in six transactions throughout his NBA journey and could soon find himself part of a seventh, as reports from ESPN’s Marc J. Spears suggest he may be on the move again from the Jazz.
Just two days after likening NBA trades to slavery, Dennis Schroder has now been traded to the Utah Jazz!
Schroder participated in a multi-team exchange that sent Jimmy Butler to the Warriors in return for Andrew Wiggins and Kyle Anderson, both of whom are heading to the Miami Heat.
Additionally, the Jazz acquired a second-round pick. The Heat also brought in Andrew Wiggins, along with Kyle Anderson, P.J. Tucker, and a protected first-round draft selection. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons received Lindy Waters III, Josh Richardson, and another second-round pick from the Warriors.
In a separate move just before the player trade deadline for 2025 playoffs eligibility, Daniel Theis was traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Pelicans also dealt Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a first-round pick, and a second-round pick, as revealed by Charania.
