In the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season, Nikola Jokic recorded his 23rd triple-double, leading the Denver Nuggets to a 125-113 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans at Ball Arena on Monday.
The Serbian sensation tallied 27 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists in addition to two blocks and one steal during 36 minutes of play.
“He definitely felt it. I don’t think he anticipated it,” Jokic commented on Luka Doncic’s trade from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers. “He probably needs some time with his family right now. It’s a major transition. It’s a business decision, and who knows? I think it caught everyone off guard, especially him. It seems like no one is secure in this league. But I believe he’ll excel. He’s suited for the big stage, even though I thought he had something special going in Dallas.”
Croatian player Dario Saric did not participate against the Pelicans, and Slovenian Vlatko Cancar was sidelined due to left knee surgery. On the Pelicans’ side, Croatian Karlo Matkovic contributed with five points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and one block, while German Daniel Theis remained out with a right thumb sprain.
In the Chase Center, German Dennis Schroder scored nine points as the Golden State Warriors narrowly defeated the Orlando Magic, 104-99, with Dutch player Quinten Post contributing seven points. For the Magic, German Franz Wagner led with 21 points, while Georgian Goga Bitadze recorded six points and 14 rebounds. German Tristan da Silva scored two points in just under 11 minutes of play.
The Houston Rockets, missing Turkish player Alperen Sengun due to a left calf contusion, lost to the New York Knicks, 124-118, at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks were without British player O.G. Anunoby (right foot sprain) and French player Pacome Dadiet (right great toe sprain). However, German Ariel Hukporti managed two rebounds and one block.
The Portland Trail Blazers edged the Phoenix Suns 121-119 in overtime, with Israeli Deni Avdija pouring in 24 points and Belgian Toumani Camara adding 17 points. The Suns were missing Bosnian Jusuf Nurkic, who did not play at the Moda Center.
