Headline: Nurkic Confident in Future with Suns Despite Trade Rumors and Limited Playtime

A complex scenario involving Jusuf Nurkic is unfolding with the Phoenix Suns.

After being removed from the starting lineup by head coach Mike Budenholzer, he has now completely exited the rotation, with his last appearance in the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season occurring on January 7.

The 30-year-old Bosnian center recently addressed his situation and the possibility of a trade before the eligibility deadline for players to help new teams in the Playoffs.

When asked about remaining with the Suns beyond the February 6 deadline, he responded, “Yeah, for sure,” according to The Arizona Republic. He acknowledged the challenges of being traded while exceeding the second tax apron, stating, “Even that, I can’t control.”

Nurkic also expressed concerns about his lack of communication with Budenholzer, saying, “We don’t have a relationship. So, it’s fine. For me, just be a pro and do the best I can. I’ll work and stay prepared for whatever might come, but I won’t add to the chaos; this team has enough as it is. I’m focused on being as professional as possible and putting in the effort to earn something better.”

In response, Budenholzer remarked, “We’ve had discussions. There’s been communication, but we have three or four players who compete for the same position. We’re going with the players we believe can give us the best chance. You have to earn your playing time, and that has been made clear.”

After remaining in Phoenix to recuperate from the flu during a five-game road trip, Nurkic was inactive for the recent matchup against the Washington Wizards at Footprint Center on the latest NBA Saturday.

“I feel good, I feel better now,” he provided an update on his condition. “It was just a bad flu. So, by the time I recovered, it was too late to catch the plane.”

The Suns will play at home against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, followed by a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
