Jimmy Butler faces another suspension amid ongoing trade discussions.
The Miami Heat provided an update on the 35-year-old forward’s situation on Wednesday.
According to the press release, “We have decided to suspend Jimmy Butler for two games due to a continued pattern of ignoring team regulations, insubordination, and actions that are detrimental to the team, including missing today’s flight to Milwaukee.”
Butler had recently returned to the court after serving a seven-game suspension in the current 2024-25 NBA Regular Season. However, he seemed to lack the energy and concentration necessary, which ultimately led to his absence from the team’s flight before their game against the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum on Thursday.
The Heat have stated that his conduct has negatively impacted the team. With the February 6 deadline approaching for players to be traded and still eligible for the 2025 NBA Playoffs, the Houston native has expressed a desire to leave Miami and is rumored to be linked with several other franchises.
In addition to the upcoming face-off against the Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Butler will also miss the match against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on the next NBA Saturday. After this two-game away stretch, Erik Spoelstra’s squad will return home to face the Orlando Magic at Kaseya Center on Monday.
This season, Butler has averaged 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game; however, his scoring has dipped to 13.0 points per game since returning from his previous suspension.
