The NBA has recognized Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić as the Western Conference Player of the Week for the games held from Monday, February 3, to Sunday, February 9. This marks Jokić’s third award of the season, which is the highest tally for any player in the league. Throughout his career, he has achieved the Western Conference Player of the Week honor 17 times, setting a record for the franchise.
Throughout the week, the 29-year-old Jokić delivered standout performances, averaging 29.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 10.3 assists, and 1 steal, while boasting a shooting percentage of 65.7% from the field and 81.8% from the free-throw line, contributing to his team’s perfect 4-0 record. For the season, Jokić is hitting career highs in multiple categories, including field goals made per game (11.3), field goals attempted (19.6), three-pointers made (2.1), three-pointers attempted (4.5), three-point shooting percentage (46.2%), assists (10.3), steals (1.8), and points (29.6). He ranks third in the league for points per game, second for assists per game, and is tied for third in rebounds per game, making him the only player to be among the top three in each of these statistics.

Jokić is now just five triple-doubles shy of equaling his franchise record of 29 for a single season, set last year. To cap off the week, Jokić recorded 26 points (11-13 FG, 1-2 3FG, 3-3 FT), 11 rebounds, and nine assists in 29 minutes during a game in Phoenix on February 8.
