Hornets Shake Up Roster: Vasilije Micic Heads to Suns in Blockbuster Trade Deal

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, former EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic is transferring from the Charlotte Hornets to the Phoenix Suns. The 31-year-old Serbian guard holds an $8 million option for the 2025-26 season.

This trade also includes center Jusuf Nurkic, who will be moving to the Hornets from the Suns. In addition, Phoenix will receive Cody Martin and a second-round pick in 2026 while sending a first-round pick to Charlotte.

So far this season, Micic has averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in 21.2 minutes per game across 36 appearances. This marks his second year in the NBA, following an impressive career in Europe where he was named season MVP (2021), Final Four MVP (2022), and won two EuroLeague titles (2021, 2022).

Nurkic, a seasoned NBA player with a decade of experience, has recorded averages of 8.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists over 23.7 minutes in 25 games during the 2024-25 season. The 30-year-old center has not seen action since early January, as Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer has decided to bench him.
