“Dear Dallas,” he began in a message posted on his personal X account this Sunday, “Seven years ago, I arrived as a young teenager determined to chase my dream of competing in basketball at the highest level. I envisioned spending my entire career here and was eager to bring a championship to you. The love and encouragement I received from all of you surpassed anything I ever imagined. For a young boy from Slovenia stepping into the U.S. for the first time, North Texas truly felt like home.”
“Through ups and downs, from injuries to the NBA Finals, your unwavering support remained constant. I am grateful not only for celebrating our happiest moments together but also for being there to support me during tougher times,” he expressed to the fans.
“To all the organizations I’ve collaborated with in the Dallas community, thank you for allowing me to be part of your meaningful initiatives and joining forces to uplift those in need,” he added in this poignant message. “As I embark on the next chapter of my basketball journey, I leave a city that will always hold a special place in my heart.”
