With Wembanyama at the helm in his native France, the San Antonio Spurs triumphed over the Indiana Pacers in the first of two 2025 NBA Paris Games, securing victory with a commanding 30-point difference (140-110).
It was a fairy-tale return for Wembanyama in front of his fellow countrymen, but the rematch held at the Accor Arena presented a different outcome. In the second half, the Pacers surged back and decisively overpowered the Spurs, finishing at 136-98.
After falling behind 50-67 at the start of the third quarter, San Antonio mounted an impressive comeback to momentarily seize the lead. However, Tyrese Haliburton reignited the Pacers’ offense, quickly steering his team ahead to a 98-86 score.
The Spurs were unable to recover from that point onward. Rick Carlisle’s squad opened the final quarter with a staggering 19-2 scoring spree and maintained their momentum, ultimately concluding the game at 136-98.
Haliburton was the standout performer for the Pacers with 28 points, while Pascal Siakam achieved a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Andrew Nembhard was close to a triple-double, contributing 15 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.
Wembanyama couldn’t remedy the Spurs’ difficulties in the closing quarter, wrapping up the game with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. Harrison Barnes added 25 points to the tally, while Stephon Castle chipped in 17, with 15 points scored after halftime. Chris Paul narrowly missed a double-double, notching 11 points and eight assists.
With this result, Indiana improved to 25-20 in the Eastern Conference standings, while San Antonio fell to 20-23 in the West.
