In an exciting encounter at TD Garden, the Boston Celtics triumphed over the San Antonio Spurs with a score of 116-103, thanks to Kristaps Porzingis’s standout performance against Victor Wembanyama.
Porzingis, hailing from Latvia, played for 37 minutes, scoring 29 points on 10 of 16 shooting, which included three successful three-pointers. Additionally, he contributed six rebounds, one block, and one steal. Reflecting on his matchup with Wembanyama, he described, “His defensive impact, particularly because of his wingspan and length, is unprecedented. It’s something we haven’t witnessed before. Even I felt like I had to do something special just to attempt my shot against him. He’s truly a unique talent.”
On the Spurs side, his Portuguese teammate Neemias Queta remained scoreless in just 26 seconds on the court. Wembanyama, the promising French player, posted impressive numbers with 17 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Additionally, Polish player Jeremy Sochan managed four points, while Georgian Sandro Mamukelashvili also played for 26 seconds without scoring.
Across town, the Atlanta Hawks faced the New York Knicks in an overtime thriller, ultimately losing 149-148.
