Sengun Shines as Rockets Edge Out Bucks and Antetokounmpo in Nail-Biter

The Houston Rockets delivered a strong performance, securing a 100-97 victory against the Milwaukee Bucks at Toyota Center.

Alperen Sengun recorded an impressive double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, along with three blocks and three assists.

After their Tuesday matchup, Giannis Antetokounmpo shared an anecdote about a conversation with Sengun during the recent NBA All-Star Game involving his eldest son.

“My eldest asked who the top player in the All-Star Game was, and he pointed to me. Then Sengun prompted him for the second-best, and after looking around, he said you,” Giannis recalled, referring to his son Liam, “He’s a good guy, and I’m proud of what he has achieved.”

Despite his team’s record slipping to 32-25 during the 2024-25 Regular Season, the Greek forward managed to contribute significantly with a double-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, one block, and one steal. Tensions escalated in the fourth quarter when Amen Thompson was ejected for a harsh foul that involved him grabbing Giannis by the neck with both hands, with 4:27 remaining.

“Players are just giving it their all. Ultimately, we don’t want the league to become soft. I appreciate tough competitors. I consider myself one of them. Sometimes, that fierce competitive spirit can cloud your judgment, and I believe he intended to make a hard foul but ended up grabbing my neck. There are no hard feelings,” the 30-year-old Greek star remarked.

In other action, the San Antonio Spurs fell to the New Orleans Pelicans, losing a 19-point lead to end the game 109-103, all while missing French talent Victor Wembanyama due to right shoulder deep vein thrombosis. Polish player Jeremy Sochan contributed 12 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, and two assists, while Georgian Sandro Mamukelashvili provided two points, one block, one steal, one assist, and one rebound.
