New Horizons: Bogdanović Reflects on Unexpected Trade to Clippers After Speculating About Toronto and New Orleans

Serbian guard Bogdan Bogdanović switched teams during the 2024/25 season, making a significant move at the NBA trade deadline from the Atlanta Hawks to the Los Angeles Clippers.

After a handful of games in his new surroundings—highlighted by a key three-pointer in a victory against the Chicago Bulls—he reflected on his recent transition, confessing that he was uncertain about his future until the very last moment.

“Just a week prior to the trade, I was aware that I would be moving teams. However, I had no clarity on my destination, and I even considered being traded to Toronto or New Orleans… There were probably around ten teams involved in negotiations, which makes this a challenging time, not knowing where you might land. Nonetheless, I am thrilled to be with the Clippers and feeling content,” Bogdanović stated in an interview with RTS.

He is quickly acclimating to his new teammates and is eager to face the city’s rivals, the Lakers, along with their latest star, Luka Dončić.

“We’re all familiar with one another in the NBA, and now we have the opportunity to join forces. It’s yet another challenge to embrace. I’m pleased with how everything is unfolding; we have the derby against the Lakers in two days,” he added.

Bogdanović also mentioned Serbia’s impressive run in qualifying for the 2025 EuroBasket, where they finished undefeated. Unfortunately, he was unable to contribute to the team’s qualification due to scheduling conflicts.

“Together with Latvia and France, we navigated the qualification process without a single loss, which is no small feat. I extended my congratulations to the coach and the staff for their tremendous effort in assembling the team. I’m grateful to them for securing us another championship opportunity,” Bogdanović concluded.
