Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Billy Donovan, Danny Crawford, Sue Bird, Maya Moore, Sylvia Fowles, Micky Arison, and the 2008 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team have been selected for induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
The Class of 2025 was revealed on Saturday, and the new inductees will be honored on September 6.
“We are excited to commemorate the Class of 2025, a cohort that has significantly impacted the game at every level,” stated John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. “This year’s group exemplifies excellence, innovation, and an unwavering love for basketball—whether it’s through groundbreaking performances, impactful leadership, or expanding the sport’s influence worldwide. We anticipate honoring this class and acknowledging their enduring legacies within the game.”
Among the 17 finalists presented to the Honors Committee in February was the late Serbian coach Dusan Ivkovic, a pivotal figure in European basketball with a coaching career spanning nearly fifty years, nominated by the International Committee. Former Maccabi Tel Aviv player Tal Brody was recognized as a finalist by the Contributors Committee, alongside Arison.
In addition to the members of the Redeem Team, Anthony, Crawford, Donovan, and Howard, other finalists from the North American Committee included Mark Few, Marques Johnson, Jerry Welsh, and Buck Williams.
Unlike Bird, Fowles, and Moore, Jennifer Azzi advanced to the finals via the Women’s Committee but did not secure election. Similarly, Molly Bolin was a finalist from the Women’s Veteran Committee.
