BOSTON (AP) — On Friday night, the Boston Celtics set a new NBA record for the most 3-pointers made in a single season during their game against the Phoenix Suns.
The record was established when Payton Pritchard sank a shot from the left wing with 3:40 remaining in the second quarter, marking the 1,364th 3-pointer and surpassing the previous record set by the Golden State Warriors two seasons ago.

Kristaps Porzingis matched the record earlier in the quarter by faking out a defender, taking a few dribbles to his left, and landing a shot from the top of the arc with 9:37 still showing in the second quarter.
The Celtics ended the game with a 14-for-39 performance from beyond the arc in their 123-103 victory, raising their season total to 1,370. They also rank third in NBA history for a single season, having made 1,351 3-pointers on their way to capturing the NBA championship last season.
Boston showcased their shooting skills early on, with Jaylen Brown banking in a 35-footer as the shot clock expired, followed shortly by Jayson Tatum dribbling in from half-court and nailing a straight 29-footer.
