76ers Star Tyrese Maxey Out for Season: Injury Strikes Again Amid Promising Campaign

Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey will not be returning for the remainder of the season due to a re-injury of his sprained right finger.

Maxey was preparing to come back to action, but an MRI revealed that he had aggravated the injury. The team announced on Wednesday that he is anticipated to make a complete recovery.

This season, Maxey has achieved a personal best, averaging 26.3 points, along with 3.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.

Last year, he earned his first All-Star selection and was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player. With former MVP Joel Embiid leading the charge, the 76ers bolstered their roster in the offseason by acquiring Paul George, raising expectations for the team.

However, Maxey has appeared in only 52 games and hasn’t played since March 3. George managed to participate in just 41 games this season before being sidelined for the remainder of the year due to injections in his left groin and knee. The 76ers had to shut down Embiid in February to allow time for his left knee to recover.
