Phoenix Suns Part Ways with Coach Mike Budenholzer After Disappointing Season

The Phoenix Suns have officially announced the dismissal of head coach Mike Budenholzer following the conclusion of the NBA regular season. The team fell short of qualifying for the Play-In tournament, finishing 11th in the Western Conference with a record of 36 wins and 46 losses.

In an official statement, the Suns said:

“Today, we announce that head coach Mike Budenholzer has been relieved of his responsibilities. Competing at the highest level is our objective, and we did not fulfill the expectations set for this season. Our fans deserve more; thus, a change is necessary.”

Budenholzer had signed a five-year contract worth $50 million during the 2024 offseason after being let go by the Milwaukee Bucks in May 2023.

Under Budenholzer’s leadership, the Bucks achieved a significant milestone in 2021 by securing the franchise’s second NBA championship title, marking their first victory since 1971.
