Dominance Redefined: Giannis Antetokounmpo Secures Fourth Player of the Week Title Amid Stellar Performances

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been awarded his fourth Eastern Conference Player of the Week accolade for the 2024-25 NBA season. The Milwaukee Bucks star was instrumental in his team’s 4-0 performance, averaging 27.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 10.0 assists, contributing to an impressive 8-0 finish in the regular season.

According to the Bucks, the NBA announced today that Antetokounmpo is the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for April 7-13, marking his second consecutive honor and fourth of the season overall.

With his contributions, the Bucks achieved a remarkable eight-game winning streak, remaining undefeated last week. During three games, Antetokounmpo boasted impressive averages of 27.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 10.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks, while shooting 57.4% from the field. He began the week by tying his career-best with a third consecutive triple-double against Minnesota on April 8, scoring 23 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and distributing 10 assists. He followed this performance with a strong showing of 28 points and 11 rebounds against New Orleans on April 10, then capped off the week with an outstanding 32 points, 15 assists, and 11 rebounds in a victory over Detroit on April 11, securing the Bucks’ fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Throughout the regular season, Antetokounmpo maintained averages of 30.4 points (ranking second in the NBA), 11.9 rebounds (sixth in the league), and a career-high-tying 6.5 assists per game, with an impressive shooting percentage of 60.1% (sixth in the NBA). By achieving over 30 points with at least 60% shooting this season, he has now recorded consecutive seasons with these exceptional figures, having previously become the first player in NBA history to do so during the 2023-24 season. Furthermore, Antetokounmpo recorded his third straight season averaging over 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, making him the only player ever to achieve this feat three times and the first since Wilt Chamberlain to post multiple seasons of 30/10/5 (two seasons from 1960-1962).
