Filip Petrusev Eyes NBA Comeback: I Deserve a Second Chance

Filip Petrusev emerged as a key player for Crvena Zvezda in the EuroLeague this season, where he was on loan from Olympiacos, contributing an average of 14.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Despite having a contract with Olympiacos for the upcoming season, Petrusev expressed to Serbian publication “Sportski Zurnal” that he hopes to secure another opportunity in the NBA sooner rather than later.

“I wish to make a swift return to the NBA,” he stated. “For everyone involved, including myself, it’s always preferable to make that move early rather than waiting until the later stages of my career. My experience in Philadelphia wasn’t fortunate; I was traded just as I began to play, and everything unraveled from there. Now that I’ve regained my confidence, I believe I am worthy of another chance!”

In 2023, Petrushev participated in only three games (one with the Sixers and two with the Kings) before joining Olympiacos, where he spent most of the 2023-24 season before being loaned to Crvena Zvezda at the start of the 2024-25 season.

Nonetheless, returning to the NBA remains his aspiration. He emphasized, “It is my strong desire to go back to the NBA, which is why all of my contracts include a clause allowing for an exit to the NBA.”
