The NBA has announced that the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers will extend their respective preseason activities to Abu Dhabi, presented by ADQ, in 2025.
The exhibition matches are scheduled to take place on October 2 and 4 at the Etihad Arena located on Yas Island, as revealed on Thursday.
“Hosting the NBA Abu Dhabi Games for the fourth year in a row, in partnership with the NBA, emphasizes our ongoing commitment to promoting basketball and empowering youth in both the UAE and the wider region,” commented Saleh Al Geziry, the director general for tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi. “We are excited to welcome two of the NBA’s most storied franchises, the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers, to the games in 2025, and their involvement strengthens Abu Dhabi’s status as a top-notch destination for premier sporting events.”
In past years, the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks participated in 2022, followed by the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves in 2023, and the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics in 2024.
“Fans in Abu Dhabi will have the chance to witness a classic matchup between two historic NBA teams when the Knicks and 76ers compete this October,” stated George Aivazoglou, managing director of the NBA for Europe and the Middle East. “We are eager to engage with fans and aspiring players from the local community and beyond, continuing our tradition of connecting with them through our games and related events.”
Abu Dhabi will also host the Final Four of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season from May 23 to 25.
