Headline: Goran Dragic Reflects on His Career and Injuries: “I Wish I Could Have Decided My Exit” as He Returns to Treviso for EuroCamp

Goran Dragic will not return to the basketball court again for a professional game. He officially announced his retirement last year during a special event in Ljubljana that featured numerous stars from both past and present.

Nonetheless, he found a way to revisit his roots by participating in the latest edition of the highly esteemed and eagerly awaited Adidas EuroCamp in Treviso.

While in Northern Italy, he engaged in an interview with HoopsHype, during which he discussed various subjects, including the injuries that have impacted his career. “It was challenging. It remains challenging because I didn’t conclude my career on my own terms. I recognize that injuries are an inherent aspect of the game. However, it’s something you must come to terms with,” he expressed.

“You must move forward. But when I reflect on my journey, I realize that many players haven’t enjoyed as lengthy a career as I have. So, I appreciate every moment I spent on the court.”

The retired Slovenian point guard also shared his thoughts on returning to Treviso for the event, describing it as a “full circle” moment. “The last time I played here was in 2007,” he noted.

“It has been quite some time, and I cherish the memories I have of this place. I met a lot of new people and made new friends, and it’s always wonderful to return and support the up-and-coming talent, future NBA stars.”

Among the attendees was another former European point guard, Sergio Rodriguez. “The style of basketball has evolved significantly. Just yesterday, I was conversing with Sergio Rodriguez about how, back in the day, we typically had point guards who were around 6-2 or 6-3,” Dragic remarked.

“Now, it’s rare to find players of that height. Everyone seems to be around 6-6 or 6-7, and they are playing both on and off the ball. The game has changed a lot, but I believe basketball is in great hands.”
