Tiago Splitter, the head coach of Paris Basketball, is set to return to the NBA as an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers, as reported by Chema de Lucas.
This marks Splitter’s third position as an assistant within the NBA. He commenced his coaching journey with the Brooklyn Nets from 2019 to 2023, followed by a brief tenure with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2023-24 season before he took the reins at Paris.
During his debut season as a head coach in 2024-25, Splitter achieved remarkable success, guiding EuroLeague newcomer Paris Basketball into the playoffs in what was celebrated as a “Cinderella season.” The team made waves in the EuroLeague with their fast-paced style of play, which Splitter described as “quicker than many NBA squads.”
In the voting for EuroLeague Coach of the Year, Splitter tied for third place alongside Bayern Munich’s Gordon Herbert.
Currently, Splitter and Paris Basketball are in the midst of the French League playoffs, with hopes of reaching the Finals this Sunday (June 8) against JL Bourg.
As a player, Splitter was an NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014 and earned recognition as a three-time All-EuroLeague center during his time with Baskonia.
