Tiago Splitter, the head coach of Paris Basketball, will take on the role of assistant coach with the Portland Trail Blazers, as announced by the NBA franchise.
Before departing from Paris, Splitter will strive to secure a championship title in the French League, with the Finals against AS Monaco, the 2025 EuroLeague runners-up, starting on Sunday (June 15).
According to the Blazers:
The Portland Trail Blazers have officially appointed Tiago Splitter, Patrick St. Andrews, and Quinton Crawford to serve as assistant coaches under Head Coach Chauncey Billups. Splitter joins the Blazers after guiding Paris Basketball to victory in the French Basketball Cup and leading them into the EuroLeague Playoffs during the 2024-25 season. Prior to his time in Paris, he was an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets in the 2023-24 season and had a five-year tenure with the Brooklyn Nets, where he worked as an assistant from 2019 to 2023 and as a professional scout along with on-court development responsibilities in the 2018-19 season.
A former NBA player for seven seasons, Splitter was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs as the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft, joining the team in the 2010-11 season. He played five seasons with the Spurs, contributing to their NBA championship victory in 2014, before concluding his playing career with stints in Atlanta (2015-16) and Philadelphia (2016-17). Splitter has an illustrious 11-year international career, primarily competing in Spain with Baskonia (2000-10), where he led the team to multiple titles and received All-EuroLeague accolades three times. He also won gold medals with the Brazilian national team at the FIBA AmeriCup, the Pan American Games, and the South American Championships. Recently, he served as the head coach for Brazil’s under-23 men’s team, winning gold in 2022.
Patrick St. Andrews most recently held the position of assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies for the past two seasons (2023-25). Before his time in Memphis, he spent five seasons (2018-23) with the Milwaukee Bucks, contributing to their coaching staff that led to the 2021 NBA Championship and the best regular season record in the league. A native of State College, Pennsylvania, St. Andrews began his coaching career with the Atlanta Hawks in 2017 after starting as a seasonal assistant in 2013. He was subsequently promoted to assistant video coordinator in 2014, elevated to head video coordinator in 2016, and finally became an assistant coach in 2017.
Quinton Crawford arrives in Portland following a successful season as head coach of the Stockton Kings, where he captured the 2025 NBA G League Championship in his debut season at the helm. Before joining the Kings, he spent the 2023-24 season as an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns, and the 2022-23 season with the Dallas Mavericks. Crawford also worked with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2019 to 2022, including being part of the coaching staff during their 2020 NBA Championship run. Prior to his Lakers tenure, he was the head video coordinator and player development coach for the Charlotte Hornets in 2018-19, and worked with the Orlando Magic, first as head video coordinator in 2017-18 after an assistant video coordinator role in the previous season. Crawford began his professional journey as an assistant video coordinator with the Sacramento Kings during the 2015-16 season.
Additionally, Leron Black has been appointed as a player development coach. He has been with the Rip City Remix, Portland’s NBA G League affiliate, since the 2023-24 season, serving as an assistant coach and director of video.
