As the Indiana Pacers aimed to capture another home win in Game 4 of the NBA Finals and take a 3-1 lead in the series, the Oklahoma City Thunder found themselves in need of a strong performance from their star player.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander answered the call, scoring 15 of his total 35 points in a rapid span of under five minutes during a critical moment of the game. His efforts propelled the Thunder to a vital 111-104 victory on the road in Indianapolis, where he finished with an impressive shooting line of 12 for 24 from the floor and a perfect 10 for 10 from the free-throw line.
“Towards the end of the game, we played with a sense of urgency, and that’s what led us to victory,” he reflected post-game. “I aimed to be assertive because I understood what a loss would mean for us tonight,” he added.
Key contributions also came from Jalen Williams, who notched 27 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 assists, and Chet Holmgren, who recorded 14 points and 15 rebounds. The duo was flawless at the free-throw line, going a combined 17 for 17. Additionally, Alex Caruso contributed significantly with 20 points and 5 steals.
“This kind of competition brings about significant highs and lows. This is a difficult moment for us, but we need to recover quickly,” remarked Rick Carlisle, head coach of the Indiana Pacers.
On the losing side, Pascal Siakam delivered a remarkable performance, tallying 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals, while Tyrese Haliburton, the team’s star, added 18 points and 7 assists in the Pacers’ defeat. The series now heads back to Oklahoma City, with both teams at a standstill, tied at 2-2.
