Headline: Mouhamed Faye Opts Out of 2025 NBA Draft, Eyes EuroLeague or NCAA Transition

In a move among several nascent talents opting to defer their NBA aspirations, Mouhamed Faye has announced his withdrawal from the 2025 NBA draft, as reported by his agent to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

At age 20, Faye initially made himself eligible for the draft toward the end of April. Instead, he will explore different avenues, which may include a transition to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague or pursuing a college basketball career in the NCAA, as per his latest update. Notably, the skilled shot-blocker remains eligible for the 2026 draft.

During the 2024-25 season, the Senegalese center made his debut in the Basketball Champions League with UnaHotels Reggio Emilia, averaging 6.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 0.4 steals across 15 games. In the LBA UnipolSai league, he appeared in 31 matches, posting averages of 10.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals, 1.5 blocks, and 0.4 assists per game. Faye started with the senior team in the 2023-24 season and earned the title of Best Young Player in Italy’s premier league.

Since joining Reggiana in 2022, the Dakar native has represented Senegal at the FIBA U18 African Championship in 2022 and participated in the Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament (now called the NextGen EuroLeague). His development led to his elevation to the senior team for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

The 2025 NBA draft is scheduled to occur across two days, with the first round on June 25 and the second on June 26, both taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
