While in Lithuania during the NBA offseason, Jonas Valanciunas is looking forward to rejoining the Sacramento Kings for the 2025-26 season, marking his 14th year in the league.
“I can set my own aspirations, but ultimately, it’s the Kings’ decisions that hold the most weight,” stated the 33-year-old center when speaking with journalists at his annual training camp. “As of now, I intend to remain. I haven’t received any indications of a trade or relocation. Until new information comes to light, my complete attention is on Sacramento.”
The seasoned player has a contract secured through the end of the 2026-27 season, having signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Washington Wizards last July. He was traded to the Kings in February, where he put up averages of 8.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 blocks, and 0.5 steals over 32 games.
With 995 NBA games under his belt, the Utena native also discussed potential plans for retirement and the possibility of playing for his hometown team, Uniclub Bet-Juventus, as he approaches the end of his career.
He is also expected to participate in the ongoing offseason representing Lithuania at EuroBasket 2025. This would mark his sixth appearance in the tournament, should the predictions hold true.
Lithuania will compete in the preliminary rounds in Tampere, facing off against Great Britain, Montenegro, Germany, host nation Finland, and Sweden from August 27 to September 3. The top four teams from this round-robin format will advance to the Round of 16 and the subsequent knockout stages, set to take place in Riga from September 6 to 14.
