In line with previous predictions, Neoklis Avdalas will not be participating in the 2025 NBA Draft presented by State Farm.
As the deadline for early entrants to withdraw approached, his representative informed ESPN’s Jonathan Givony of the final decision on Sunday. Avdalas had originally submitted the required documentation in late April.
The promising Greek forward has been weighing his options, indicating a preference for beginning his NCAA career and aiming for next summer’s draft to make the leap to the NBA. He is anticipated to enroll at Virginia Tech for the 2025-26 season.
After departing from Peristeri Domino’s in the latter part of the 2024-25 season, he has been concentrating on preparing for the draft and has made a notable impact on NBA scouts. Additionally, he has toured various college campuses to broaden his opportunities within the NCAA.
In 2022, the Athens native entered into a five-year agreement with the Greek powerhouse, Panathinaikos Aktor. Following participation in seven Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games and making his debut in Greece’s top division, he was loaned to Karditsa Iaponiki for the 2023-24 season and subsequently to Peristeri for the 2024-25 season.
His development continued in the Basketball Champions League, where he made seven appearances in the latest season of FIBA Europe’s premier club tournament. Avdalas averaged 6.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game. Domestically, in competitions like the Stoiximan GBL and the Greek Cup, he recorded averages of 8.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
In addition to his club achievements, he has recently made strides at the international level, representing the senior team with three appearances in the EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers.
