As the new chief owners, Lore and Rodriguez will take full command over the Timberwolves, Lynx, and Iowa Wolves (G League). They will co-chair the organization, with Lore taking on the Governor position for the Timberwolves and Rodriguez as his Alternate. For the Lynx, Rodriguez will be designated as Governor, while Lore will serve as Alternate Governor. This significant change, officially sanctioned by the NBA’s Board of Governors, represents the final stage in the transfer of ownership from long-standing General Partner Glen Taylor.
“We are privileged to guide the Timberwolves and Lynx into an exciting and transformative new phase,” expressed Lore. “This is a significant moment for us, and we deeply understand the substantial responsibility that comes with being guardians of these outstanding franchises. Our goal is to cultivate an organization recognized for excellence, worthy of admiration, and infused with pride that lasts through generations.”
“I have devoted my entire life to sports, viewing it not just as a game but as a transformative influence that brings people together, elevates communities, and changes lives,” stated Rodriguez. “I’m truly honored and eager to get to work. I understand what it takes to achieve championship success, and I’m ready to channel that commitment and drive into establishing a winning culture in Minnesota.”
During their four years as limited partners, Lore and Rodriguez have advocated for an innovative, long-range vision aimed at building the most respected franchises in professional sports. Their strategy emphasizes investment in high-character individuals, business innovation, player development, and outstanding fan experiences—all while remaining firmly dedicated to the community of the Twin Cities.
The Co-Chairmen have cultivated a strong and dynamic partnership based on mutual esteem, complementary talents, and a shared ambition to create something remarkable in Minnesota. As proud fathers of daughters and close friends, they bring a blend of corporate acumen, entrepreneurial spirit, and elite sports expertise.
Lore is the Founder and CEO of Wonder, a company transforming mealtime through a comprehensive app and a network of delivery-focused restaurants helmed by top chefs. A serial entrepreneur, he previously founded Jet.com, which was acquired by Walmart, where he subsequently served as President and CEO of U.S. eCommerce. He also was a co-founder of Quidsi, the parent entity of Diapers.com, acquired by Amazon.
Rodriguez, a 14-time MLB All-Star and World Series Champion, started his business endeavors during his athletic career. He founded A-Rod Corp, a fully integrated real estate investment and development company, and has built a strong reputation as a private equity investor, achieving multiple successful exits in his investment portfolio.
From their modest beginnings, both have ascended to the pinnacles of their industries, and this ownership milestone fulfills a lifelong aspiration for both individuals.
The Minnesota Timberwolves, established in 1989, and the Minnesota Lynx, founded in 1999, are vital components of the sports scene in the Twin Cities. With Lore and Rodriguez at the helm, both franchises will remain committed to making a meaningful impact within the Twin Cities community.
