Lonzo Ball is set to be traded from the Chicago Bulls to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Isaac Okoro.
This news was reported by ESPN’s senior NBA insider, Shams Charania, on Saturday.
This offseason trade marks the third for the 27-year-old Ball, coming on the heels of a two-year contract extension he signed last February. After graduating from UCLA in 2017, he was selected as the second overall pick in the NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. Two years later, just before the 2019-20 season started, he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. In 2021, he was moved once again, this time to Chicago.
Injuries have hindered his career, including knee surgery during the 2021-22 season, followed by extended absences in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons due to another knee operation and ongoing health issues. Upon his return to the court, he averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game in 35 appearances, with 14 of those being as a starter in the 2024-25 regular season, until a wrist injury cut his season short in February.
