Nicolas Batum is returning to the LA Clippers. The 36-year-old French forward has reached an agreement on a two-year contract worth $11.5 million, which features a team option and a trade kicker, as reported by ESPN.
Batum opted out of his $4.9 million player option, making him a free agent. He previously mentioned that there is a “very, very good chance” this could be his last season in the NBA.
Although he played less than 18 minutes per game last season, Batum participated in 78 games, showcasing his defensive flexibility and dependable three-point shooting. Throughout the playoffs, he maintained an impressive nearly 40% shooting rate from beyond the arc, averaging 1.7 blocks and 0.9 steals per game.
Lawrence Frank, president of the Clippers, had shown a strong interest in re-signing Batum.
This will be Batum’s sixth season with the Clippers, following his previous tenures with Portland and Charlotte.
