Nigel Hayes-Davis is making his return to the NBA after a remarkable journey that began with an impressive run to the 2015 Final Four championship game with Wisconsin. Following his college success, he made his way to the NBA and subsequently honed his skills overseas, ultimately achieving the title of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion with Fenerbahce Beko.
The Phoenix Suns are on the verge of finalizing a deal with Fenerbahce, which will allow them to add the 30-year-old American forward to their roster for the 2025-26 season. In light of this transfer, Frank Kaminsky, a former teammate at Wisconsin, praised Hayes-Davis for his relentless work ethic, stating, “He’s the hardest worker you’ll find out there. He’s been one of the top players in Europe for the last two years and truly deserves this chance,” as reported by Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports.
Kaminsky, who is 32, played for the Suns from 2019 to 2022. He returned to the team last September but was waived in October, just before the start of the 2024-25 Regular Season. Throughout his NBA career, he has participated in 430 games across the Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, and the Suns. Additionally, he spent the 2023-24 season overseas, making 30 appearances in the EuroLeague for Partizan Mozzart Bet.
Hayes-Davis, who played alongside Kaminsky during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 NCAA seasons—culminating in their appearance in the 2015 Final Four championship against Duke—had a brief stint during the 2017-18 Regular Season with the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, and Toronto Raptors before taking his talents abroad. He emerged as a standout player in Europe’s top club competition and earned the title of Most Valuable Player in the 2025 Final Four, culminating in a championship victory.
