There’s still more to unravel regarding Myles Turner’s move to Milwaukee, as ESPN highlights. Sources indicate that the talented big man preferred to stay with the Pacers, where he had a significant role in guiding the team to the Finals. However, Indiana’s offers never exceeded a three-year, $60 million framework.

Turner has devoted his entire 10-year NBA career to the Pacers, where he stands as the franchise’s all-time leader in shot blocks. Last season, he averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2 blocks per game, playing a crucial role in leading the Pacers to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000.

He will take over the center position in Milwaukee after Brook Lopez reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with the LA Clippers. Turner became a key asset for Indiana when president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard initiated another rebuild during the 2021-22 season, collaborating with Turner to establish the foundation of this year’s roster.

As part of the transition to accommodate Turner’s signing, multiple reports indicate that the Bucks are planning to waive nine-time All-Star Damian Lillard, who is likely to miss a significant portion of the upcoming season due to an Achilles injury.

The Pacers faced a pivotal choice this summer regarding whether to surpass the luxury tax threshold, with knowledge that star guard Tyrese Haliburton is unlikely to play in the 2025-26 season.

During his time in Indiana, Turner was frequently involved in trade speculations, yet he remained with the team when Pritchard traded All-Star forward Domantas Sabonis to Sacramento in exchange for Haliburton. This deal triggered a series of moves that ultimately shaped Indiana’s core around Turner, Haliburton, and Pascal Siakam, enabling them to reach the NBA Finals.

In Milwaukee, Turner will enhance a frontline that includes former Kia MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, alongside veterans Kyle Kuzma, Taurean Prince, and more.
