Kevin Pritchard, president of the Indiana Pacers, has officially announced that standout point guard Tyrese Haliburton will be sidelined for the entirety of the 2025-26 season as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon.
“I am confident he will return stronger than ever… However, he will not be playing next year,” Pritchard expressed to local reporters.
“We refuse to take any risks regarding his recovery. Please do not get your hopes up for his return.”
Haliburton sustained the injury in the first quarter during Indiana’s 103-91 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, and he underwent surgery on June 23.
Throughout the season, he posted averages of 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, making significant contributions during the playoffs and helping lead the Pacers to the Finals.
