Vasilije Micic Opts for Freedom: Returns $6.1 Million to Pursue Opportunities Post-Bucks Deal

A significant portion of his contract for the 2025-26 season has been eliminated following Vasilije Micic’s buyout agreement with the Milwaukee Bucks.

With the agreement finalized on Monday evening, various North American media outlets, including Bucks insider Eric Nehm, shared more information. Specifically, the 31-year-old Micic relinquished $6.1 million of the $8.1 million owed on his 2025-26 contract. This arrangement benefits the Bucks as they navigate salary cap constraints in light of other offseason transactions, while Micic’s aim is to explore new opportunities as a free agent.

After spending two years in the NBA and playing in 101 games for the Charlotte Hornets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Phoenix Suns, Micic is anticipated to return to the EuroLeague. Possible teams interested in him include the reigning champions Fenerbahce Beko, but additional clubs may enter the fray as he officially becomes a free agent.

In further moves on Monday, the Bucks parted ways with 34-year-old Damian Lillard and brought in 29-year-old Myles Turner, while also re-signing 30-year-old Bobby Portis Jr.

In league news, a three-team trade that sends Latvian player Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks has been officially confirmed. Additionally, the Boston Celtics traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers, while welcoming Bosnian Luka Garza in return.

Trades involving German Dennis Schroder and Italian Simone Fontecchio to the Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat, respectively, have also been finalized.

Furthermore, the Orlando Magic have officially re-signed German forward Moritz Wagner.
