Former NBA and European basketball player Ben McLemore has been sentenced to 100 months in prison after being convicted on charges of rape and sexual assault, as reported by ESPN.
McLemore faced allegations of raping and sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman during a party in 2021, involving Robert Covington, who was then his teammate at the Portland Trail Blazers.
The court found McLemore guilty on multiple counts, including “one count of first-degree rape, one count of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and one count of second-degree sexual abuse.”
Following a report of the sexual assault in 2021, authorities launched an investigation into the accusations against McLemore. In February 2024, an arrest warrant was issued, leading to his arrest two months later.
With a nine-year career in the NBA, McLemore also played in Europe for teams such as AEK Athens in Greece, Rio Breogan in Spain, and Merkezefendi in Turkey.
