Jonas Valanciunas Set to Continue His Journey with the Nuggets After Turning Down Major Offer from Panathinaikos

The saga surrounding Jonas Valanciunas seems to be concluding, as the Lithuanian center is anticipated to remain with the Denver Nuggets, despite a lucrative offer from Panathinaikos.

Vic Lombardi reports that the franchise and the seasoned player have reached an understanding to continue their partnership, ensuring that Valanciunas’ second season in Denver will be secured.

“The Nuggets are confident he will stay, believing that with time, any concerns will be resolved,” was noted during Altitude SR 92.5’s program.

The Nuggets had previously communicated their expectation that the 33-year-old would fulfill his contract, having traded for him to serve as a backup to Nikola Jokic. Their strategy involved combining the European big men to enhance the team’s competitiveness.

Nonetheless, Panathinaikos extended a substantial offer of 12 million euros for the Lithuanian center, who had traveled to Athens to undergo medical examinations and negotiate terms with the Greek club.

“You can claim anything. Much has been said already, with all sorts of opinions being aired. The speculation has ended, and everyone has expressed their views. We’ll only know what’s true when the first game takes place. That’s when everything will become clear,” Valanciunas remarked yesterday at the 2025 B8 Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.
